Trail Rides

A Moose Creek Ranch Signature Experience

Horseback Riding at Moose Creek Ranch

Ride out through fields of wildflowers, cross Moose Creek at its shallow bend, and climb into stands of lodgepole pine, where the trail turns damp and fragrant underfoot. The two-hour route winds through the Bridger-Teton National Forest, starting and ending right at the ranch, guided by our trail boss Biscuit — who’s spent his life reading horses and riders both, and puts each guest on the mount that suits them best.

We welcome young riders over 8 years old, and can arrange horses suited to first-timers. For groups looking for something more private, we’re happy to curate a ride built around your group alone. For kiddos under 8, we offer shorter ranch and corral rides. However you come to it, you’ll leave the saddle a little more at home in this valley than when you climbed in.

Trail rides are available during the summer season only.

The Trail Boss

Meet the Wrangler

Before the sun’s fully up over the ridge, Biscuit is already at the barn — tacking up, feeding, making sure every horse is ready before the rest of the ranch has poured its first cup of coffee. He’s worked horses across the country, and these past few summers, MCR has been his home base.

Folks who’ve ridden with him will tell you he’s got a read on a horse and a rider before either one knows what’s coming — matching greenhorns and old hands alike with the mount that’ll carry them through a ride worth talking about at dinner. Rooster, his dog, is never far off — trotting the line, keeping the group honest, minding the herd of humans as much as the horses. Out on the trail with Biscuit, you’ll learn a thing or two about yourself, the flowers and fauna, and the magic of bonding with a horse. Your don’t just go for a ride, you come back with a story.

For the young bucks

Kiddo Rides

For our young aspiring wranglers ages 5 and up, we offer Ranch Rides and Corral Rides — a private experience that includes a safety orientation, a short ride in the corral or around the ranch, and time to help the wrangler with the horses. Parents may walk alongside their young buck during the ride. Contact the front desk for scheduling.
