Hot Springs
Soaking in the Tetons
What To Expect
The mountains here run hot beneath the surface, and a handful of natural springs make that heat something you can sit in. Astoria, on the banks of the Snake River south of Jackson, is the most developed of the bunch — a series of pools built into the hillside, open year-round with reservations required. Granite Hot Springs sits deeper into the Bridger-Teton National Forest, reachable by car in summer and only by snowmobile, ski, or dog sled once the road closes for winter — a soak that takes some effort to reach and rewards it in kind. Closer to the ranch, on the Idaho side, Green Canyon offers a simpler, more rustic set of pools with none of the drive to Jackson.
